This piece is a natural Type A Myanmar jadeite Laughing Buddha with a highly desirable Yang Green (阳绿) color. In jadeite, “Yang” refers not simply to a bright green, but to a green that appears luminous, lively, clear, and full of energy. It has enough brightness and saturation to feel radiant rather than heavy or dull, with a fresh green presence that seems to come alive under light. Here, the green is remarkably even and concentrated across the Buddha, giving the carving a rich full-green appearance while retaining the fresh, luminous quality that makes Yang Green so sought after.
The jadeite quality is equally impressive. The jade body is exceptionally fine and clean, with excellent translucency and a beautiful internal glow. The surface catches light with a distinct 起光 (light-emitting quality) and strong 刚性, giving the piece a crisp, polished brilliance. It approaches glassy-jadeite quality in its overall appearance. The combination of this level of grain fineness, translucency, vivid green, and strong light response is extremely difficult to achieve in a carved piece.
The 17.6 × 20 mm jadeite is small and refined, yet the carving has been given a pleasingly full and rounded form. Most importantly, it is 3.8 mm thick—an excellent thickness for a small, high-quality jadeite Buddha. It gives the carving substance and a beautifully substantial presence rather than making it appear thin or flat. At this level of jadeite quality, increasing the size and thickness while preserving the same color and material quality becomes extraordinarily expensive. This piece therefore represents a particularly beautiful balance: a compact collector-quality jadeite carving with outstanding material characteristics, while remaining elegant and wearable.
The Laughing Buddha is surrounded by a substantial 18K white-gold setting with high-quality natural diamonds, creating a bright halo around the green jadeite without overpowering it. The setting adds a luxurious high-jewelry character while keeping the jadeite Buddha as the unmistakable center of attention. The finished pendant measures 34.5 × 24.5 × 12 mm, giving it enough presence to be noticed when worn while remaining refined and elegant.
The pendant comes with an 18K white-gold diamond-set versatile chain, allowing the piece to be worn directly as a complete necklace. The combination of the joyful Buddha carving, luminous Yang Green jadeite, strong light response, and fine diamond setting makes this a particularly beautiful choice for someone who wants a meaningful jadeite pendant with both Chinese cultural symbolism and high-jewelry refinement.
